Michael has called the Washington DC area home for his entire life. After growing up in Arlington, Virginia, he headed to Ashland, Virginia to attend Randolph-Macon College. Following graduation, he returned to Northern Virginia, and shortly after moved into his first home in the Petworth neighborhood of NW DC. Since then, he has purchased multiple additional homes and been a resident of DC for more than 12 years. This longstanding relationship with the DC Metropolitan area allows for him to share a vast knowledge of various neighborhoods and communities, throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

In July 2012, Michael left a successful real estate team with another firm, to go off on his own as an agent with McEnearney Associates. The move has proven to be extremely rewarding for Michael, and his business has seen dramatic growth ever since. Michael’s sales volume has grown from just over $2M in sales, in 2013, to over $15M, in 2017. This rate of growth would not have happened without a successful support team at McEnearney, but most importantly an incredible network of clients, family, and friends.

Michael is dedicated to providing superior service, and believes that by doing so, in turn it will deliver the results his clients are hoping for. This approach is what has allowed Michael to be so successful in such a relatively short amount of time, and all signs point to continued success in the future.

When not working hard for his clients, Michael and his wife, Katie, love to travel, attend local sporting events (especially, the Nationals, Capitals, and Redskins), try the newest restaurants in the area, and spend time at home, in the Brookland neighborhood, in DC, with their dog, Ezra, their tuxedo cat, Jameson, and most recently with their newborn son, Elias; born in November 2017.

Whether you are a potential buyer or seller, looking for advice on the current market and its effect on your decision to make an offer or list your home; an investor, seeking the next great opportunity; or, if you are a potential landlord or tenant, interested in discussing how to navigate the process of renting a home... contact Michael today to learn more about how he can help deliver the results you are hoping for!

" Mike was the perfect resource for me as a first time home buyer. He provided me with all of the information I needed without making me feel pressured to look at places or close in a certain time frame."

" We could not be more grateful to have found Mike Makris as our realtor. We love our new home, and would not be moving into it without Mike. You will not find a more dedicated, responsive, and professional real estate agent out there. From giving us the earliest notice possible of properties coming on the market, to walking us through all aspects of being first time homebuyers, Mike was everything we could have asked for. We are truly grateful to him and hope that many many others get to have the same wonderful experience that we. "

" My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Mike Makris to find our new home in the DC area. Mike was everything a professional should be: knowledgeable, reliable, and thorough. But most important to us was his ability to really listen to what we wanted and needed in a new home. When we could not find exactly what we wanted in DC, Mike was willing and able to rethink our search and find us a wonderful house in Virginia. We would definitely work with Mike if we ever needed to move again."

" I write to praise Michael Makris for his extraordinary service to me. I called McEnearney cold in mid-October and was referred to Mike. Our home in Hollin Hills had been on the market since March. I retired end of May, and my retirement financial plan was premised upon the sale of our house. Its sale would end that mortgage, and profit from it also would enable us to pay off the mortgage on our retirement home. Over 8 months we grew increasingly frustrated with our initial realtors, whom we found too passive and insufficiently communicative. From my first conversation with Mike, we found him exactly the opposite. He saw that selling the home as promptly as possible was our top priority, and persuaded us to make a few modest cosmetic improvements and to lower the price sharply. We signed with him on November 1, 2012, and he attacked the sales challenge like a dynamo. On the same evening that we signed our agreement, Mike had to drive to Wisconsin to see his dying grandfather; however, he stayed in touch by phone and computer all weekend. He arranged the cosmetic improvements, and produced special circulars and ads featuring our house's new lower price. He also held open houses on successive weekends. We spoke several times a week, and frequently exchanged emails. We got a contract offer on November 21, after less than three weeks on the market! After some negotiation, Mike called me on Thanksgiving morning - from Wisconsin, where he'd gone to bury his grandfather and have a family reunion - to tell us a deal was in place. We had much to be thankful for. Mike's service didn't end there, as over the next several weeks there were numerous small things that needed to be taken care of around the home, and Mike arranged for them to be done...including, climbing a ladder himself to clear a roof drain of falling leaves. Mike won our confidence from the start. He was sharp, focused, friendly, persuasive, energetic, communicative and effective. He stayed on top of our sale from day one through the close, and kept us fully informed. I think he is truly exceptional; McEnearney is fortunate to employ him."

" Mike helped me purchase my first home. I searched for one and a half years, visiting some properties multiple times. Mike was patient with me the entire time. He was a valuable resource throughout the process, providing the advice and knowledge that I needed. I will use Mike again and would refer him to friends and family. "

" "My husband and I just purchased our first home a couple of weeks ago. As first time buyers, the process was overwhelming, to say the least. Mike was a tremendous asset to us throughout the entire process, from the initial conversation to ensure that we had our finances in order, to the last minute questions we had on closing day. Mike was extremely patient with us as we worked to determine what we really wanted in our first home, thoroughly answering all of our questions about the process and guiding us through each of the steps. Once we identified the home we wanted to purchase, Mike brainstormed with us on how to make our offer the most attractive it could be, staying on the phone long past the regular business hours. Overall, Mike went above and beyond what we expected our agent to do and we would highly recommend him to family and friends.""
