Dale City is a relatively new community located south of Fairfax County. Considerable development occurred in the 1970’s under the supervision of real estate developer Cecil Don Hylton. Hylton bestowed the name “Dale” on the city in reference to the hills and dales that define the community’s suburban landscape.
Quality of Life:
Dale City is a classically suburban community that offers a reprise from the sometimes-chaotic environment found closer to the region’s urban centers. It is home to a large commuting population. Residents are approximately 40 to 60 minutes away from Washington D.C. and Tysons Corner.
Opportunities abound for outdoor activities including hiking, boating and golfing. Nearby Potomac Mills Mall is ideal for shopping and dining. Dale City is a suitable solution for those looking for modern convenience in a more rural setting.
I-95 and Route 1 connects drivers to Alexandria, Arlington, and Washington D.C. Prince William Parkway serves those heading west. Dale City also provides residents with rideshare opportunities as well as an affordable “OmniRide” bus service that goes to and from Tysons Corner and Washington D.C.
