Description

This exquisite estate abounds with details and sits on a very private 20,000 square foot lot that provides the look and feel of more than an acre because of the open land, mature trees, and multimillion-dollar properties that surround it. The unusually serene property offers the best of both worlds - it is a haven for wildlife, birds, and quiet views while being easily walkable to a multitude of shops, eateries, and both public and private schools. No expense was spared in these magnificent 6,520 square feet, from the handmade custom millwork to the top-of-the-line appliances and high-end features. Countless details were included to make your life easier, including the spacious separate mudroom with school and sports gear storage, a walk-in pantry to easily fit your oversized serving ware and Costco purchases, as well as a two car garage. Relax and escape to the luxurious master retreat at the end of the day, enjoying picturesque views from every window, or sit on the wrap around porch while enjoying a cup of tea. This home offers easy living, boasting various spaces for adults, teens, and children to all gather while enjoying any desired privacy. The two large spare lower level rooms coupled with a rare finished fourth floor offer endless options for a guest suite, home theater, wine cellar and tasting room, workout room, private office, art studio, or indoor sports court (and the local builder is happy to discuss options to incorporate further customizations). Living in the desirable College Park neighborhood with year-round activities and events, you will quickly come to love this close-knit community so close to Old Town Alexandria. To top it all off, the price per square foot on this 2017 new construction home beats out other area builders by a wide margin - so you can rest easy knowing you simply will not find a better value in this historic City.

Taylor Run

The story of Taylor Run is one that spans many generations. Its geography is defined by Shooter’s Hill, which marks the high land west of Old Town. Two turnpikes bind Taylor Run: The Leesburg Turnpike (King Street) and Little River Turnpike (Duke Street). Some of the community’s earliest inhabitants are believed to have been Native Americans. The area was explored and settled by colonists arriving in the late 17th century. In the mid 1700’s, John Carlyle, a prominent merchant from Alexandria, is known to have owned farmland in Taylor Run.

During the Civil War, Fort Ellsworth was constructed near the base of Shooter’s Hill. The fort was dismantled after the war ended. Today the name lends itself to apartment complexes in the southeastern end of the community. It is also important to note that Taylor Run is also home to the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Remember the Titans? They’re in Taylor Run, too.

Quality of Life:

Taylor Run is the kind of neighborhood people don’t want to leave, except maybe when one has the opportunity to move into The White House. Hint: President Gerald Ford called Taylor Run home. The neighborhoods of Taylor Run offer an eclectic mix of housing options. Residents enjoy living close to Old Town, Alexandria. All the typical amenities are located nearby. The Hoffman Center located on the other side of Duke Street has an AMC movie theater and several restaurants.

Getting Around:

The King Street Metro station is a convenient commuter stop for Taylor Run inhabitants. For those looking for something more, Amtrak and VRE operates a station nearby as well. Easy access to I-495. King and Duke Street are main arteries that will take you to the heart of Old Town or to I-395.

Airports:

Ronald Reagan National Airport:  < 10 miles.
Washington-Dulles International Airport:  < 30 miles.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport:  < 45 miles.
