Rosslyn

Rosslyn occupies the northeastern corner of Arlington. It is situated across the Potomac River from Georgetown. Rosslyn colonial connection goes back to a ferry that would shuttle to and from Georgetown. The community maintained a rural environment through the 1700’s and 1800’s. Growth was spurred at the end of the 19th century by the trolley lines moving west.

Rosslyn was also the site of an aqueduct that bridged the Alexandria and C & O Canals. This aqueduct was rendered obsolete in 1923 with the construction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge (Key Bridge). Development of Rosslyn continued however, it was not until the 1960’s that the area boomed.

Quality of Life:

Luxury high-rises and condominiums can be found in the Rosslyn area. Urbanites used to big cities might feel at ease. The apartments here afford wonderful views.

Rosslyn is an urban village through and through. With an emerging nightlife and accessible public transportation, Rosslyn is a good place to call home. Of course, we all know that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. For those looking for a little adventure, Georgetown is right across the Key Bridge. Or, hop on the metro for a trip downtown.

The Rosslyn community comes with a bit of its own culture as well. There is the annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival. Urban artwork decorates open space and places like the Artisphere add flavor and color to the local scene. Overall, Rosslyn offers a contemporary experience that is unlike any other.

Rosslyn is the epitome of a transit-oriented community. The community is serviced by metro buses, as well as the D.C. Connector. The Rosslyn Metro Station connects to both the Orange and Blue Lines. For those driving, I-66, Route 1 and G.W. Parkway are all in close proximity; the Key Bridge makes for a short commute into the District.
